It is really hard to choose the best three moisturisers for everybody, every season and for any purpose.

My daytime moisturiser will be lighter in weight so that my make-up stays in place as my skin type is combination/oily. Whereas at night I’ve used richer products even something as rich as Creme La Mer or I will use a facial oil.

When I was selling skincare a lot of customers requested a moisturiser that contained an SPF for daytime. If you do decide that you want that please also have a nighttime moisturiser. Do not sleep wearing SPF. It needs to be removed from the face in the evening just like pollution, oil and dirt.

I do not advocate SPF in moisturisers and I never recommended them to my customers. Firstly, the quantity of SPF in a moisturiser will give you some incidental exposure coverage but it is not adequate protection.

Generally most sized faces need a teaspoon amount of SPF for adequate protection and you would need to be applying a lot of moisturiser to obtain that and you would need to somehow work out how much SPF there is in your moisturiser.

So it is best to buy a separate face sunscreen to apply after your moisturiser and before your foundation for daytime.

Best for any skin-type, any season, day or night:

Perricone MD Classics Face Finishing & Firming Moisturiser

I simply love this light weight moisturiser. Whenever I use it my skin looks amazing, glowing and really hydrated.

In my experience most customers really enjoyed it and noticed improvements in their skin whilst using it. Very, very dry skin may definitely feel that they need a heavier moisturiser.

If I could only own one moisturiser for all seasons and for day and nighttime use it would be this one. It just works for the majority of people.

Key ingredients in this moisturiser are DMAE to firm the skin, Vitamin E for powerful antioxidant benefits and nutrient dense Kukui Nut Seed Oil.

This product is free from soy, fish, phthalates, sulfates, parabens, talc, and mineral oil. Cruelty-free and 100% vegan. Click here to buy…

Best for warmer weather, daytime and normal-oily skin types:

Ole Hendrickson C-Rush Brightening Gel Creme

Perfect for normal to oily skin this lightweight, gel textured moisturiser is very hydrating and sits perfectly under make-up.

I am a big fan of this moisturiser. I have repurchased it and I have been using it for about 6 months.

My skin looks really bright, tight and hydrated and it creates the perfect base for foundation even if I do not bother using a primer.

It contains 3 forms of Vitamin C – 3-O-Ethyl Ascorbic Acid (an ethered form of C that is more stable than traditional Ascorbic Acid and water and fat soluble), Ascorbic Acid (water soluble and less stable however there is Vitamin E in this moisturiser which helps to stabilise Ascorbic Acid) and Tetrahexyldecyl Ascorbate(fat soluble and stable in light and air).

Other ingredients include hyaluronic acid and rose of winter extract.

Ole Hendrickson brings the goods when it comes to Vitamin C in their serums and moisturisers. There is a mix of water and fat soluble Vitamin C’s of varying stabilities.

I would particularly recommend this moisturiser to those who do not use a Vitamin C serum in their skincare regime. Click here to buy…

Best for Normal-dry skin, cooler/drier weather or as a night cream:

By Terry Baume De Rose Face Cream

Baume De Rose the rich, luscious lip balm is everything and so too is this face cream. It is a super nourishing for drier skin types, beautiful as a night cream for any skin type and those with normal skin might benefit from switching from their lightweight summer moisturiser to this in winter.

Rose is a brightening ingredient and it will leave the skin looking luminous.

Baume De Rose contains several rose products from Grasse in France. Always a good selling point for someone like me who gets sucked in by that type of luxury. It contains black rose extract, rose butter, rose blossom essential wax, rosehip oil and pastel rose extract.

It also contains coconut oil and Vitamin E.

It is formulated without parabens, sulphates and gluten. Click here to buy…

I am a former published International glamour model whose career in modelling has allowed me to work closely with dermatologists, dermal clinicians and make-up artists. After retiring from modelling I worked in the skin care industry as a skincare consultant and this work evoked a real passion to help other people look and feel their best and understand their skincare needs. This role also involved travelling internationally to meet with industry experts and niche brands that I grew to really love. During my modelling career in particular, I was frustrated by having a combination/oily skin type that made it difficult to get through photoshoots without having make-up wearing off and developing a shiny forehead and nose. I battled problematic skin during this time with breakouts and dehydration and tried everything from skincare and treatments recommended by dermatologists, to skin care that I found in cosmetic stores. During my career working as a skincare consultant I tried a colossal amount of products myself, listened to feedback from my customers and finally discovered not only a solution to my own skincare concerns but a philosophy about skincare which I am passionate to share with you. My aim is to share this knowledge and demystify skincare for my readers and share my simple, common sense approach to making your skin work for you
